The 61st Cannes Film Festival will take place from 14 May to 25 May 2008. General Information
Open to the PublicThe Official Film Festival and the Film Market are closed to the general public. Residents of Cannes do have a chance to to get in with some tickets given away on a tirage au sort - a lucky draw system. Applicants must go to the Mairie and submit proof of residence in Cannes and then "wait and see".
Members of film (cinéphile) clubs, film schools or other cultural groups from the PACA region may also apply for "Cannes Cinéphiles" passes. Applications (with justification) must be made before early May to:
Cinéma de la PlageThe open air cinema on the beach is opposite the Majestic hotel on the Croisette. Each night during the festival there are screenings of competition films. Access to screenings at the Cinéma de la Plage is open to badge holders and residents of Cannes only. If you are a resident of Cannes you can apply for an invitation (for one night only) at the Mairie until the beginning of May. You must provide proof of your address in Cannes (justificatif de domicile), for example a recent electricity bill. The Festival on TVYou can watch the Festival at home with the Live TV Festival, broadcast 24 hours a day in French and English. The TV Festival is broadcast on the following channels:
